Please follow these directions to complete your nonfiction story. Remember to do your very best work. Write neatly, spell words correctly, and be careful with pictures. Use only pencil to write your words. Do not outline words with marker. This will be due by next Wednesday, October 24th.
1. Think about a person, place, or thing that you know a lot about. You are going to use your packet to create a nonfiction book. Do not cut out any pages before returning it to school. This will be done in school.
2. In the first rectangle, write the title of your book on the "Title" line. Write your name on the "Author" line.
3. Skip to the next page. In the rectangle numbered page 1, use the lines to write one fact about your topic.
4. In the rectangle numbered page 2, use the lines to write a second fact about your topic.
5. On the last page, in the rectangle numbered page 3, use the lines to write a final fact about your topic.
6. Look at your 3 facts and decide on a heading for each one. Go back to the table of contents and write your headings for fact 1 (page 1), fact 2 (page 2), and fact 3 (page 3). Make sure these headings are short enough to place on the lines.
7. Find 4 words that you can add to the glossary to teach your reader some more details about your topic. Remember to write the 4 words in alphabetical order. You may use a dictionary to help you.
8. Finally, you are going to illustrate your book. You may draw pictures or neatly glue printed pictures into the drawing boxes. You will need a picture for the title page, and a picture for each of your 3 facts.
***Remember, if you are drawing pictures: sketch lightly with pencil, outline with thin marker, color with crayon, include a background.***
Let Mrs. Johnson know if you have any questions before the day the booklet is due.
