Program Director:
Saint Mary After School Program exists to provide quality care for students in Kindergarten through Grade Eight following the conclusion of the school day. We are open on regularly scheduled school days from 2:30-5:30 with the exception of the last day of school.
Our program includes time for structured and unstructured play, enrichment and homework. We also encourage the children to practice independence and self-direction.

Registration Form
All families with children participating on our Afterschool Program must print out and return an Emergency Contact/Registration form.
Grades 3 - 8
Students in Grade 3-8 are dismissed to a structured homework space where attendance is taken. Homework time is not optional as it is important for children to learn that a good homework routine is part of being a student. Students have access to Chromebooks after school so they should be able to successfully complete all assignments within the time provided. If there is no written homework the children are encouraged to review, preview or read for pleasure. Following "Homework", the children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of indoor or outdoor activities and games, depending on the weather. This unstructured time is essential for the development of the whole person and allows students to explore and develop areas of interest. We strive to supervise their choices with redirection when necessary.
Students in Grade 3-8 will stop for a 15 minute snack break between 2:45 - 3:30.
Please note: If your child attends an after school activity and returns to the program, we expect your child will sit and allocate a little time toward homework. Additionally, we try to make a space available on fridays for homework. We do not require students do homework on fridays.
Grades K - 2
Attendance is taken at 2:30 and the children are brought into the cafeteria for snack followed by bathrooms and a long outdoor recess. At appoximately 3:30, our Second grade students return to the classroom for a little homework time, after which they are free to go back and play.
We encourage our early elementary students, make decisions on how to spend their time. After school hours provide great opportunites for them to develop socially, emotionally and physically. We want the children to learn how to make choices, problem solve and communicate with confidence so we engage but do not hover, intervening when necessary.
Dismissal
Parents, relatives or friends who are authorized to pick up should come to the front office to sign their student(s) out. Students will be summoned and are expected to stop and clean up before leaving for the afternoon. We believe it is important for the students to develop a sense of ownership as well as, resposnsibility. Cleaning up materials before leaving is one way for us to do this.
Our program closes at 5:30. We expect all students will be picked up in a timely manner.
